Social Media PR: Is It Necessary For A Small Business?

What is Public Relation?

The word public relation is relatively new considering the millennium, but it is doing the rounds. It is misinterpreted often and underutilized. Advertising is not a part of public relations, rather vice versa. Public relations needed to be incorporated into advertising with minute attention to all details. We all practice some sort of public relations but do not realize it and come to terms with it. A little small talk with the grocery store guy so that may be the next time home delivery is assured, a little chat with the maids so that an extra hour of dusting the house is done, all of this is building public relations.

Now, why do we do? Well, humans are social creatures and because we want our job done better in a shorter time or for the same value of money. So basically, we are trying to build our own brand.

Oh, a better example, social media! Why do we pay so much attention to pictures with the correct filters? Because we want to brand ourselves with a better image which is socially acceptable and maybe better than peers around. So, isn't those ground basics of marketing? Yes, you bet it is, just that the product is us ourselves. I guess that is a lot of storytelling and shall we get on with it then?

Impact of PR & Social Media

Presence and impact of Social Media are huge these days, especially in a developing country. We have huge trade volumes on the internet and maybe somehow that goes to show that how crucial brand presence is over the internet. Okay so why are we narrowing our view to Social Media, why not the entire Internet? Because the target is a particular audience who are active over various Social Media pages and constitute the bulk of the trade volume over the web.

This constitutes the college-going kid to the newlywed thirty's crowd. The forty's and fifty's crowd are coming to the arena to play but are a tad bit slow at it, but we can cut them some slack for their crippled technological knowledge.

Likewise, it is very essential for brands to build strong public relations in Social Media.

Small Businesses entering the Field of PR & Social Media

So why shall small businesses stay behind?  Live chat options in various merchant sites though are very basic is a robust attempt. Now how do we differentiate between trade volumes and business volume? Entrepreneurs and businessman alike have this thought whether a small business house needs good Social Media PR? Well, why on earth not? This is the 2018's and the internet is ruling over the consumer, services and consultation and even bulk market.

In conclusion

We need a strong presence on social media as we need to widen our perspectives as much as possible in terms of target audience. Public relations go a long way and a good way to look at them will be to compare them with long-term growth plans in the equity market where you are looking at double-digit appreciation compounded on an annual basis. What this really means is you have to bet your money on your product how big or small your business is, as the appreciation which is the fruit of your Social Media PR, will only get the customer through your door.
